It’s going to be summer soon and Share Our Strength is reminding schools that its grants increase access to summer meals programs offered through the Summer Food Service Program or the Nat’l School Lunch effort.
These No Kid Hungry Community Investment grants are open to school and nonprofits, helping them extend their feeding programs to disadvantaged kids through the summer when classes are out. A primary focus is to end childhood hunger through the groups’s state and city-based No Kid Hungry campaigns. The grants also support efforts to enroll more eligible families in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program; increase the availability of school breakfast through alternative models such as “in-classroom” breakfast and “grab-n-go” breakfasts; and improve access to afterschool snack and meal programs, as well as child care programs.
Maximum award: $10,000.
