State and Local Funding Roundup: Multistate

Oklahoma

The Cherokee Strip Community Foundation accepts proposals from nonprofit organizations in the Cherokee Strip region. The foundation typically awards grants up to $10,000 for special projects and programs as well as equipment. Focus areas include: arts and culture, health and human services, recreation and neighborhoods, economic development, and education and the environment. The deadlines are July 31 (LOI) and Sept. 1 (proposal).

Minnesota and Wisconsin

The AgStar Fund for Rural America is committed to enhancing the quality of life and future opportunities for rural residents and their communities. The fund supports nonprofit organizations in the service area where AgStar has a significant business presence in Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin. The fund focuses on: education, environment, technology and quality of life. Grants of up to $10,000 are provided. The deadline is Nov. 30.

North Carolina

The Bobcats Charitable Foundation is the philanthropic initiative of the NBA franchise, the Charlotte Hornets. The foundation funds organizations in the Charlotte area with a focus on children and youth, literacy, fitness and wellness. Priority consideration will be given to organizations demonstrating collaboration and whose programs have significant reach in number of people. Priority also will be given in “seed grants” to initiate promising new projects by existing agencies or by new organizations. Funding varies; rolling deadlines.
