Hewlet Foundation Supports K-12 Reform: The Learning Accelerator receives a $2 million grant from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation to create comprehensive, high-quality open educational resources aligned with state learning standards for K–12 mathematics and English language arts. America’s Promise Alliance Launches $3M Youth Fund: The Citi Foundation and America’s Promise Alliance roll out a $3 million fund in support of innovative, scalable programs that prepare low-income youth for today’s workforce. A new component of Citi’s Pathways to Progress initiative, the Youth Opportunity Fund will provide funding to city-specific initiatives that address the issue of youth unemployment, including programs that involve partnerships with municipal governments and promote collaborations across sectors. The fund will award grants of up to $250,000 in support of local nonprofit programs and college and career opportunities for urban youth in Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Newark, St. Louis, San Francisco and Washington, DC.
