Education, Evangelical Projects Are Campbell Priorities

grantsPrivate Funder: J. Bulow Campbell Foundation; Opportunity: 2015 grants; Funding Focus: Community development, education, youth, Christian concerns and, to a limited extent, arts and culture; Geographic Focus: Primarily Georgia, although organizations in Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee are also eligible; Eligibility: Nonprofits; no individual church congregations (foundation gives highest priority to capital funding rather than operating support); Funding: Varies; the foundation distributed $26 million in grants last year; Deadline: April 1.

Summary: Priority given to non-government, faith-based, privately supported institutions, and to agencies and organizations with proven programs. The foundation prefers supporting a smaller number of significant, carefully planned projects rather large numbers of organizations. Almost all grants are challenge grants.

For education grants, priority goes organizations which are privately-supported and accredited; special consideration is given to Christian-based institutions. For example, the foundation last year gave $1.3 million to the Marist School (www.marist.com) Atlanta, GA, for a new school building and $175,000 to the Paul Anderson Youth Home, Vidalia, GA, for cottage renovations and campus redesign.
