Foundation Helps Pre-K-3 Classrooms

Private Funder: Foundation for Child Development (FCD); Opportunity: Education grants; Funding Focus: Education & child development; Geographic Focus: National; Eligibility: Researchers and institutions of higher education; Funding: Multiple awards; Deadline: Rolling (letter of inquiry).

Summary: Grants go for efforts to realign Pre-K-3 classroom instruction. The grants support policy development, advocacy, and communications strategies. Although this program is not accepting unsolicited applications, you can start with a letter of inquiry, foundation officers tell us. The FCD awards an average of 14 grants each year.

Other Grants

FCD releases new guidelines for its Young Scholars Program (http://tinyurl.com/kwxhpl3); that program runs on a different funding track. It supports a new generation of scholars conducting research on development of children in immigrant families from birth to age 10, particularly those who are living in low-income families. Given the limited research on young immigrant children, proposals focused on children from birth to age 8 are highly encouraged. Questions can be submitted via e-mail to ysp@fcd-us.org
