Summary: These federal grants support programs to improve lives, strengthen communities and foster civic participation through service and volunteering. Specifically, CNCS is interested in funding projects that support access to services and resources that contribute to improved educational outcomes for economically disadvantaged children; improved school readiness for economically disadvantaged young children. Projects should also help improve educational and behavioral outcomes of students in low-achieving elementary, middle, and high schools; and support economically disadvantaged students prepare for success in post-secondary educational institutions.
Grant recipients are awarded up to $75,000 for a 12-month planning period and are expected to be better prepared to compete for an AmeriCorps program grant in the following grant cycle. A planning grant may not be used to support AmeriCorps members.
Planning grants support development of AmeriCorps programs which engage AmeriCorps members in evidence-based interventions aimed at solving community problems.
