Summary: AFRI provides funding for research and programs addressing areas deemed of utmost importance to USDA. The program funds research and programs focused on achieving the long-term outcome of increasing food availability and decreasing the number of food insecure individuals. Projects should support informal education to increase food, agricultural, and health literacy of youth. Specifically, AFRI Integrated Projects should include a 4-H Youth Development partner. Programs should provide opportunities for youth to develop skills, practical knowledge and wisdom as the next generation of citizen scientists.
