Grant making focuses on the following three areas: concern for the poor, disadvantaged, and underserved; respect for diversity; promotion of understanding across cultures; and empowerment of communities in need. NCF also supports private, public and corporate policies that benefit artists, arts organizations and constituent communities as well as cross-disciplinary strategies that align the arts community with others of similar interests. All grant inquiries are acknowledged promptly.
Potential applicants should make first contact via a two- to three-page letter of inquiry. If an applicant’s letter is chosen for further action, they will be notified and will enter into a dialogue concerning their project with the appropriate member of the foundation’s staff. In the course of this dialogue, the organization may be invited to submit a grant application.
