ACF Seeks Comments Foster Care ‘Visitation’ Application

ACF-logoThe Administration for Children and Families (HHS) seeks comments on the proposed revisions to the application for its Access and Visitation Program (CFDA Number: 93.597). Public Comment Deadline: June 26.

The AV program ( provides $10 million in formula funding to states each year. States use these funds to create programs that support and facilitate access and visitation by non-custodial parents with their children. Activities may include mediation, counseling, education, development of parenting plans, visitation enforcement and development of guidelines for visitation and alternative custody arrangements.

The new, modified application reflects a greater emphasis on program efficiency, coordination of services, and increased attention to family safety. It will cover three fiscal years. The applications will include information on how grantees plan to: spend grant funds, monitor service delivery, and implement safety protocols to ensure client and staff safety.
