Shell Science Awards Open for Teachers

Private Funders: Nat’l Science Teachers Assn. and Shell Oil Company; Opportunity: Shell Science Teaching Award; Funding Focus: Education, science, technology, engineering and mathematics; Geographic Focus: National; Eligibility: Science teachers; Funding: $10,000 for one award; Deadline: Jan. 6.

Summary: This award recognizes one outstanding classroom teacher (grades K-12) who has had a positive impact on his or her students, school and the community through exemplary science teaching. Special projects may be included.

Other Grants

The Shell Science Lab grants competition deadline is Jan. 23.  The grants reward teachers with replicable approaches to science lab instruction that require limited school and laboratory resources. The winners receive a cash grant, NSTA membership and support to attend NSTA conferences on science education. The winning teacher’s school also will receive a lab makeover.
