Artist’s Foundation Provides Grants to Ease Poverty

Summary: Grants support projects which encourage community involvement or help underserved youth.

  • Pathways Out of Poverty: Is open to applicants in the District of Columbia metro area for projects which help underserved youth overcome barriers to poverty. Projects may include in-school and community-based educational programs, afterschool activities and mentoring programs. Programs designed to increase high school graduation rates are encouraged.
  • Encouraging Citizen Involvement: The program provides grants for nonprofits engaging citizens in creating a responsible, responsive democratic government. Proposals may focus on citizen education and greater voter participation in the electoral process.

Defending Freedoms, a third foundation grants program with a national reach is closed; a new round is to open next year.
