Adoption Foundation Supports Foster Care, Child Welfare Efforts

Summary: The foundation focuses funding on significantly increasing adoptions of children from the foster care system. Wendy’s Wonderful Kids Grants help public and private adoption agencies hire adoption professionals to implement proactive, child-focused recruitment programs targeted on moving the longest-waiting children from foster care into adoptive families.

Other Grants

Dave Thomas also offers General Grants to fund new and innovative ideas and proven programs focusing on foster care adoption. The proposed program must have national impact or include a plan for national replication. General and capital expenses will be considered.

Past grantees include: the Adopt America Network ($25,000) for specialized matching services for children with special needs; the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute ($75,000) for a congressional foster youth intern program; and the North American Council on Adoptable Children ($75,000) to create a national resource center for families and adoption professionals.
