Gerber Foundation Boosts Funding for Children’s Nutrition, Health Care Projects

Summary: Grants support projects on children’s research. Funds support research projects improving nutrition, healthcare and reduce environmental hazards of infants and young children from the first year before birth to 3-years of age. The competition can be difficult, but not impossible. The foundation generally receives approximately 100 concept papers for each concept paper deadline. Depending on funding availability and the mix of requests, 10-12 of these are selected and most eventually are funded. principal investigator and co-PI time supported on the grant is limited to no more than 30%. Indirect costs up to 10% may be funded.Children’s hospitals and universities are normally on the winners list. The review panel really likes projects showing measurable progress or outcomes.
