Funder: Best Buy Foundation; Opportunity: Best Buy Community Grants Program; Funding Focus: Youth, education, technology; Geographic Focus: National (applicants must have a Best Buy store within 50 miles of them); Eligibility: Nonprofits and schools serving a diverse population of young teens in the areas of learning, life skills, leadership or relationship development; Funding: Varies, the foundation made $4.1 million in grants last year; Deadline: TBA, last year’s deadline was July 1.

Summary: Grantees provide teens (ages 13-18) with opportunities to develop 21st century technology skills to inspire future education and career choices. Examples of program activities include: computer programming; digital imaging; music production; robotics; gaming; and mobile app development.
