Educators Can Win STEM Awards from Power Company

Private Funders: Florida Power & Light (FPL); Opportunity: 2017 teacher grants; Funding Focus: STEM education, conservation and the environment; Geographic Focus: Florida; Eligibility: Public, private and charter school teachers at elementary, middle and high schools in FPL’s service territory; Funding: Multiple awards; Deadline: Rolling.

Summary: These grants support energy-related classroom projects. It funds robotics teams in the FPL service area. Applications from teams will be accepted, but only one grant will be awarded per project. Applications for the 2018 robotics scholarship will open Dec. 1.

FPL also supports district-wide science fairs with categories of energy or engineering. But, due to the number of schools in the service area, FPL cannot provide grants or support to individual schools, officials said.
