Summary: Although Sears has acquired Kmart, Sears continues to maintain the Kmart Fund for Kids. Focus areas are children, health, education, military/veterans and community development or the home. Children’s health is a priority. The funder has supported St. Jude Research Children’s Research Hospital ($6.3 million).  Education grants support college readiness, character education, and mentoring programs to provide a base for career exploration. The fund partnered with PENCIL to reform New York City public schools. Business leaders collaborate with principals to develop unique, school-based projects.
