Summary: The foundation awards grants to local volunteer organizations for promotion of boating safety education and/or clean water messages. The Grassroots Grants program encompasses both boating safety and clean water projects in a single application, and both types of projects will be awarded at the same time. The foundation will fund volunteer boating groups, clubs, and associations, as well as local nonprofit organizations, including local chapters of national organizations. Youth groups have benefited. Life-jacket design grants were awarded last year to a team of high school seniors from St. Thomas More High School in Milwaukee, WI; a grassroots grant was awarded to a Georgia group for a kid’s activity booklet on boating/water safety (http://tinyurl.com/lo3g8zm).
