Bank Launches Competition to Support Families, Housing

Foundation: TD Charitable Foundation (a philanthropic effort of TD Bank); Opportunity: 2016 Housing for Everyone Grants; Funding Focus: Housing, low-income, families; Geographic Focus: Communities with TD Banks in CT, DE, DC, FL, ME, MD, MA, NH, NJ, NY, NC, PA, RI, SC, VT and VA; Eligibility: Nonprofits; Funding: $3.75 million for multipleawards of $100,000 each; Deadline: TBA (competition opens in July and closes in late August).

Summary: The Housing for Everyone program chooses a different housing-related theme every year. In 2015, the grants focused on affordable housing for seniors. Applications must highlight the ways in which funding will create new units focused on the needs of the elderly, including access to medical and health services; proximity to shopping, community, and transportation services; and adaptability to the changing needs of aging populations. In 2014, the focus was Housing for the Future, which supported programs that encourage the creation or preservation of rental housing units for families with children. The 2017 focus will be announced later this year.
